My son did not receive his first, second, or third choice. We live on Queen Anne, have done a lot of volunteer work in the schools and understand the need for parental involvement. We both have jobs and really worked hard to give our spare time to the school while being around for our kids. We could pull that off, as we were five blocks from the school. Therefore, in order to continue that, we hoping to get into Ballard High. We were assigned to Franklin. I was quite insulted when the Seattle Times called us racists because we wanted to be close to our children's schools. There is nothing further from the truth, as far as I am concerned. I feel it wrong to even discuss ethnic origin, We are ALL equal!
